Performance Observations

The dock operates with native Thunderbolt, requiring no DisplayLink drivers. Testing with a Kingston XS1000 drive on the USB-C port showed write speeds around 720 MB/s and read speeds around 977 MB/s—consistent with 10Gbps USB performance.

During early use, the reviewer experienced HDMI monitor wake issues after standby and intermittent video dropouts. After removing residual DisplayLink drivers and disabling Windows USB suspend settings, the HDMI issue resolved. Infrequent video sync drops persisted, which the reviewer attributed to the age of their monitors.

Power Delivery Limitations

The dock provides up to 60W charging to the laptop and 15W to peripherals. This is insufficient for gaming laptops, mobile workstations, or 16-inch MacBook Pros, which may require separate power connections.

Pricing

RRP A$599.95. At time of publication, the D-Link Amazon store shipping from the UK offered it at A$330.95.

Reviewer's Conclusion

The reviewer stated that after initial issues, the dock performed solidly, with ports operating at rated speeds. They noted the design as aesthetically pleasing. Recommendations include verifying that the laptop's power requirements are within 60W, or being willing to use separate power.
