Cannes Film Festival Hosts Premiere of Film 'Hope' by Na Hong-Jin

The Cannes Film Festival hosted the world premiere of 'Hope', the latest film from director Na Hong-Jin, at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on Saturday, May 16. The director was joined by cast members Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russel, Go Soo, Hwang Jeong-min, and Hoyeon Jung on the red carpet.

Plot

The film is set in the isolated village of Hope, which is left defenseless after communications are severed and reinforcements are diverted to battle wildfires.

The story follows police outpost chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae as they try to protect elderly residents, while Sung-ki and a group of locals venture into mountains to track a mysterious beast, only to realize they are being hunted. Human conflict escalates into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.
