LinkedIn Cracks Down on AI-Generated & Low-Quality Content

LinkedIn has announced significant changes to its algorithm designed to reduce the visibility of posts exhibiting signs of AI generation or low-quality content. This includes engagement bait, recycled thought leadership, and phrasing patterns commonly associated with artificial intelligence.

What Changes Are Being Made?

The Microsoft-owned company will limit such posts from appearing in user recommendations. However, these posts will remain viewable to the user's direct connections and existing followers.

To identify problematic content, LinkedIn collaborated with its editorial team to pinpoint specific patterns of content that lacks originality.

AI-Assisted Content Still Allowed

The company clarified that AI-assisted content is not entirely banned. Content generated with AI is still permitted as long as it contains original ideas or encourages meaningful conversation.

Initial Results

The company described the initial results of this policy change as "encouraging," and expects to see further declines in low-quality and AI-generated content on the platform in the coming weeks.
