Gruber Foundation Announces 2026 International Prize Winners

$1.5 Million Awarded Across Cosmology, Genetics, and Neuroscience

The five scientists will share a total of $1.5 million.

The Gruber Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2026 International Prizes in cosmology, genetics, and neuroscience. The awards ceremony will take place later this year.

Cosmology Prize Recipients

Alexei V. Filippenko, Professor at the University of California, Berkeley
Ken'ichi Nomoto, Professor at The University of Tokyo
Stanford Woosley, Professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz

Genetics Prize Recipient

Alan G. Hinnebusch, Distinguished Investigator at the National Institutes of Health

Neuroscience Prize Recipient

John L.R. Rubenstein, Professor at the University of California, San Francisco

About the Awards

The prizes are part of the Gruber International Prize Program, established in 2000 by Patricia and Peter Gruber. The Gruber Foundation has been housed at Yale University since 2011.
