Subnautica 2 Early Access: Developer Addresses Community Feedback

Unknown Worlds Entertainment has issued a formal statement responding to player feedback on the Subnautica 2 Early Access experience.

Creature Balance Under Fire

The developer acknowledged that creature balance requires improvement, with predator encounters currently feeling frustrating rather than tense. Upcoming patches will adjust:

  • Creature aggression timing
  • Aggro range
  • Flare effectiveness
  • Survival tool effectiveness
  • Creature interactions with vehicles and bases

"Creature encounters need to feel fair and engaging."

Combat Philosophy Clarified

The studio also addressed requests for more direct combat options. Their current design philosophy focuses on vulnerability and exploration over weapon-based combat, but they acknowledged that creature encounters must still feel fair and engaging.

A New Approach to Early Access

Unknown Worlds clarified their view of Early Access as a collaboration with the community, not solely a bug-reporting phase. The developer apologized for previous communication that made players feel dismissed, and committed to listening and explaining design decisions respectfully moving forward.
