CDC Imposes Travel Ban Amid Ebola Outbreak

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has banned entry for non-Americans who have been in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan in the previous 21 days, due to the Ebola outbreak.

World Cup Preparations Unaffected

All DR Congo national team players are based outside the country and are not affected by the restrictions after the training camp was cancelled.

Giuliani Warns of Risks

"If other people enter and are symptomatic, they risk the entire team's ability to compete in the World Cup."

WHO Raises Risk Level

On Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the public health risk from the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo from "high" to "very high". WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the risk in the wider African region is "high" but remains "low" globally.

Upcoming Matches

DR Congo is scheduled to play friendlies against Denmark on 3 June in Belgium and against Chile on 9 June in Spain.

World Cup Schedule

The World Cup runs from 11 June to 19 July. DR Congo plays Portugal in their opening game on 17 June.
