The Devils Redux

A newly restored version of Ken Russell's 1971 film The Devils has premiered at the Cannes Classics section.

The film originally sparked controversy for its depiction of religious hypocrisy and was heavily edited upon release.

A 'director's cut' was assembled by critic Mark Kermode in 2002 after he located missing scenes. A new restoration by Warner Bros. offshoot Clockwork is scheduled for theatrical release in the fall of 2025.
