AirPods Settings Get a Major Redesign

Apple is overhauling the way users manage their AirPods, introducing a significantly revamped settings interface across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The new design is described as more functional, organized, and streamlined.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the current settings menu has become cluttered due to the addition of features like head gestures, hearing aid functionality, and sleep detection. The redesign aims to fix this by improving the information hierarchy and promoting key functionality.

Key Details of the Redesign:

  • Platforms: iOS, iPadOS, and macOS
  • Target: More intuitive and less cluttered settings interface
  • Simplicity: No dedicated AirPods app is planned; settings will remain within the main Settings app.

The core goal is to make key functions easier to find and use.

When to Expect the Update

The redesigned AirPods settings are expected to arrive as part of major operating system updates.

  • Included in: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27

Official Announcement:
Apple will unveil these new operating systems at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8, 2025. The main keynote presentation begins at 10 AM PT.
