Uncover the cosmos from the heart of Melbourne. The Melbourne Planetarium invites you to a new monthly series, 'Discover the Night Sky,' designed to make astronomy accessible and awe-inspiring for everyone.
Schedule & Themes
The series runs on the last Thursday of each month, beginning June 25. Each session, hosted by astronomer Dr. Tanya Hill, explores a unique topic using the Planetarium’s stunning dome visuals.
- 25 June – Exoplanets: Exploring alien atmospheres
- 30 July – Venus: New missions to the evening star
- 27 August – Colours of the universe: Seeing the invisible
- 24 September – Nancy Grace Roman Telescope: The next great space observatory

Your Evening Experience
The night begins at the galaxy bar, which opens at 6pm for drinks and light snacks. Two session times are available: 6:30pm and 8pm.
Stargazing is a key feature of the evening, guided by amateur astronomers with telescopes. This activity runs from 7pm to 8:30pm and is weather dependent.
- Ticket holders for the 6:30pm session can attend stargazing after the show.
- Ticket holders for the 8pm session can stargaze before the show.
Please note: Stargazing is not available in October and November due to daylight saving time.
