A new era for Call of Duty on Nintendo begins this fall.

Activision has officially announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on October 23, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. This marks the first Call of Duty title on a Nintendo platform since Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Wii U in 2013.

The announcement was made on May 28, 2026, via the official Call of Duty Twitter account. Pre-order details are expected to be announced later in the summer.

Campaign Details

The game's campaign is described as following two narrative perspectives: a squad of South Korean soldiers fighting on the front lines, and Captain Price conducting a personal mission. The story involves an invasion and an escalating conflict.

Multiplayer and Modes

Multiplayer features include cross-play and cross-progression. The game will also offer optional Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. A returning mode, DMZ, allows players to operate as off-the-books assets behind enemy lines, completing extractions with specific objectives.

Availability

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be available on October 23, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will not be a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.

Additional Reports

Before the official announcement, industry insider NateTheHate claimed, based on a response to a fan question, that the game would be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. This claim followed his earlier accurate report regarding a new Star Fox game. Separately, an image purporting to show Modern Warfare 4 box art was shared by billbil-kun, and a Call of Duty YouTube live stream with a Korean theme was reported to have started. These reports predated and were separate from Activision's official company statement.

Microsoft announced a 10-year commitment in early 2023 to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms.
