Study: I-SNP Enrollment Linked to Fewer Hospitalizations for Nursing Home Residents with Dementia

View source

A retrospective cohort study found that enrollment in an Institutional Special Needs Plan (I-SNP) was associated with significantly fewer hospitalizations for nursing home residents with dementia at the end of life.

Key Finding: The effect was larger for UnitedHealthcare (UHC) I-SNPs compared to non-UHC I-SNPs.

Critical Insight: The study suggests that plan maturity and volume are likely important factors influencing success.
