Police Negotiate With Armed Suspect for Over an Hour in Spotswood

A 44-year-old man was arrested in Spotswood on Friday morning following a tense, hour-long standoff with police. He now faces multiple serious charges, including drug trafficking and firearm offences.

Police attended an address in Hudsons Road, Spotswood before 9am on Friday to execute a search warrant as part of an investigation into firearm and drug trafficking.

A 44-year-old man was uncooperative and allegedly armed with a firearm. Officers negotiated with him for over an hour before he surrendered to police at 10.20am.

He was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, using a firearm in contravention of a firearm prohibition order, and discharging a firearm at premises.
