iOS 27 to Overhaul Notifications and Notification Center with New Gestures

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, iOS 27 will introduce two significant changes to how users interact with notifications and the Notification Center.

Notifications will slide in from the left side of the screen instead of from the top.

Key Changes

  • Notifications will slide in from the left side of the screen instead of from the top.
  • Accessing Notification Center will require swiping down on the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Swiping down on the Dynamic Island area will open a new "Search or Ask" interface tied to the revamped Siri, instead of Notification Center.
  • The "Search or Ask" interface may be limited to iPhone 15 Pro and newer models if it requires Apple Intelligence.

Release Timeline

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 keynote on Monday. The first developer beta should be available on the same day, with a public beta following in July and a wide release in September.
