Marner Makes History: Fastest Hat Trick in Stanley Cup Final

Mitch Marner of the Vegas Golden Knights recorded the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history during the second period of Game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

A Blazing Performance

Marner scored three goals in just over six minutes, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic. This was Marner's second hat trick of the 2026 playoffs, following one in Game 3 of the second-round series against the Anaheim Ducks.

Historic Achievement

  • He became the second player to achieve a natural hat trick in a single period in Stanley Cup Final history.
  • The game was tied 0-0 early in the second period before Tomáš Hertl gave Vegas a lead, and Marner extended it to 4-0.

Player Background

Marner is in his first season with the Golden Knights after nine seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. During the 2025-26 regular season, he recorded 24 goals and 56 assists. In the playoffs, he had 24 points in 18 games before Game 3, leading all players in scoring.
