Iran Claims
Trump stated that Iran was "very close to having a nuclear weapon" before he terminated the nuclear deal and ordered strikes in June 2025.
President Trump made several remarks about Iran during an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press." He claimed the strikes "totally obliterated" a nuclear site.
However, a March 2025 assessment by the Director of National Intelligence stated that Iran had not decided to build nuclear weapons, though it had enriched uranium beyond civilian needs. NBC News reported in July 2025 that one enrichment site was mostly destroyed, but two others were less damaged.
The IAEA reports Iran retains nearly 1,000 pounds of uranium enriched to 60%, a short step from weapons grade, but building a warhead would take months to over a year.
Trump also claimed that major arms of the Iranian military are "gone." NBC News reported that half of Iran's unconventional navy, including small fast boats used by the IRGC, remains intact. The Pentagon stated that about 90% of Iran's conventional navy and more than 95% of naval mines have been destroyed, and over 80% of missile facilities are gone.
When asked about his campaign pledge not to start new wars, Trump said he did not guarantee no war. However, he repeatedly promised during the 2024 campaign that he would not start new wars, stating in Pennsylvania, "I will not send you to fight and die in stupid foreign wars."
Gas Prices
Trump said gas prices would go down after a deal or after the war ends.
Oil executives stated it will take time to restore production. Exxon's Neil Chapman estimated four to six weeks after the Strait of Hormuz reopens to normalize supply chains. UAE's Sultan Al Jaber said it would take at least four months to reach 80% of pre-conflict flows, with full flows not returning until early 2027.
January 6 Riot
Trump defended a proposed $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization" fund for allies hurt by "radical left lunatics." When asked if rioters who assaulted police should receive funds, he said he "wouldn't be inclined" but would have to see.
He claimed rioters pleaded guilty because they were frightened and that FBI agents ushered people into the Capitol. The Justice Department Inspector General found no evidence that on-duty FBI agents ushered anyone in; four confidential human sources entered but were not directed to. Trump also claimed the FBI brought people into the Capitol, which NBC noted has no evidence.
California Elections
Trump claimed the California primaries were "rigged" and that long vote counts indicate cheating.
No evidence of fraud has been presented. The prolonged count is due to California's mail-in voting system; over 80% of votes are cast by mail, and ballots postmarked by election day can be accepted up to a week later. Democratic voters tend to mail in more often, so Democratic candidates' margins often improve as late ballots are counted.
