Xbox Announces Halo: Campaign Evolved – A Faithful Remake with New Content

A classic returns. Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved (2001), is set to launch on July 28.

Rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5
The game features a complete graphical overhaul using Unreal Engine 5, while preserving the original gameplay feel. The development team confirmed they achieved this by layering new content directly over the original code.

What’s Included in the Campaign?

  • The entire original campaign from Combat Evolved
  • Three additional new missions
  • A brand-new "Campaign Remix" mode

Demo & Featured Missions
The media demo included two classic missions: "The Silent Cartographer" and "The Silent Cartographer (Control Room)."

New Gameplay Features

  • Nine additional weapons drawn from later Halo titles
  • Ability to pick up enemy weapons
  • Vehicle hijacking mechanics
  • Energy Sword now usable in campaign

Co-op & Skull System

  • Campaign supports four-player co-op
  • The Skull system introduces gameplay modifiers, boasting the largest selection of Skulls in series history
  • Campaign Remix mode applies random Skulls to each playthrough
