Newmar won a Tony Award for her performance in the stage version of The Marriage-Go-Round in 1959.

She originated the role of Catwoman in the 1966 Batman series, noting that her performance was heavily influenced by observing real cats' behavior. She also made specific modifications to the iconic costume.

Personal Life

For decades, Newmar has resided in Brentwood, Los Angeles, with her son John, who has Down's syndrome and lost his hearing at the age of three.

She was married to J Holt Smith; the couple separated after their son's birth. Beyond acting, Newmar manages her family's property portfolio and previously filed trademarks for underwear designs under the brand name "Nudemar."

Views and Beliefs

In a recent interview, Newmar shared several strong opinions. She stated she believes men should run the entertainment industry, arguing that men are "very good to women."

"I love men too much."

Describing herself as not being "the first in line in the #MeToo class," she said her stance stems from a deep affection for men.

Newmar practices Christian Science and expressed a belief that extraterrestrials are protecting Earth. Despite the unusual worldview, she said she does not worry about the future and finds joy in life.
