Tragic Collision Claims Life of Four-Year-Old in Canning Vale
Incident
A devastating two-vehicle collision occurred on June 3 at the intersection of Garden Street and Boardman Road in Canning Vale. A Holden Astra, carrying four-year-old Layna Leavy, her mother, and her brother, collided with a Ford Mustang.
Layna sustained critical injuries and was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where she died.
Her mother and brother sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Family Background
The Leavy family are Irish expats who relocated to Perth from Ireland in June 2024.
Fundraiser
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the Leavy family during this harrowing time. The fundraiser remembers Layna as “a little girl with an infectious smile and a warmth that filled every room she walked into.” The campaign has already raised over $50,000.
Tributes
Layna's mother, Saoirse Wynne, posted a heartfelt tribute online:
“Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces… I hope you continue to sing and dance in the sky and forever in our hearts.”
Flowers and tributes have been left at the crash site as the community mourns the loss of the young girl.
