Assault in Byron Bay: Man, 28, Left with Fractured Skull After Attack by Group of Five

Police are appealing for information after a 28-year-old Canadian man was brutally assaulted by a group of five males he had just met in Railway Park, Byron Bay.

The Incident

On the night of the incident, the victim was socializing with a group he had recently met in Railway Park. The situation turned violent when the group, which included two teenagers aged 16 or 17, turned on him.

The victim sustained a fractured skull and intracranial bleeding during the assault.

How the Victim Got Help

After managing to flee into nearby bushland, the man flagged down police on Butler Street at approximately 11:40 pm. Officers immediately provided first aid and transported him to Byron Bay Hospital. He was later transferred to Tweed Valley Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

Background & Appeal

Police have confirmed that the victim had only arrived in Byron Bay the day before the attack.
