The Wolf Among Us 2: A Decade in the Making
Key Details
A trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2 was shown at Summer Game Fest 2023, nearly a decade after the sequel was first confirmed. The game is currently scheduled for release in 2027. A remaster of the original The Wolf Among Us is planned for a Holiday 2026 release.
Development Challenges
The game underwent a 'technical reset' after the initial attempt to use Telltale Tool alongside Unreal Engine 4 proved unworkable, according to Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie. The company switched to Unreal Engine 5, which required discarding years of prior work. Ottilie partly attributed the delay to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting communication.

Production Details
The current version of the game is being co-developed with Argentine studio Trick Studios. Previous development was done with AdHoc Studio. Telltale adopted a 'measured approach' to growth, focusing on a sequential slate of games rather than parallel development.

Regarding episodic releases, Ottilie said the company may adopt a model where all episodes are released simultaneously.
Future Plans
Telltale aims to release one or two premiere games every two to three years. The company may consider acquiring IP but is not actively seeking to purchase other studios. Ottilie expressed interest in a blend of licensed projects and owned IP.
