Iran Football Federation Says FIFA Ticket Allocation Policy is Being Ignored
Key Details
The Iranian football federation (FFIRI) has stated that FIFA regulations entitle each participating federation to 8% of tickets per match for distribution to its supporters. While the FFIRI claims it began selling tickets, it can no longer provide them to fans, some of whom have already made travel arrangements.
Official Statements
"Depriving Iranian supporters of access to their lawful and official allocation of tickets is an action contrary to the spirit of governing international competitions and the principle of equality among participating countries."
The FFIRI further stated that "This development raises serious questions about the interference of non-sporting and political considerations in the organisation of the world's biggest football event."
The federation has called on FIFA "to uphold the principles of neutrality, fairness, and established regulations."

The World Cup is being co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, beginning on 12 June. Iran is scheduled to play New Zealand on 15 June and Belgium on 21 June in Los Angeles, and Egypt on 26 June in Seattle.
