The program is open to Australian residents over 18 with lived experience of disability, who can work between August 2026 and May 2027. Applicants must propose an original non-fiction story in one of four formats:

  • 800-word feature article
  • Social media content (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook story/reel/photo essay)

The deadline for applications is midnight on July 8, 2026.

Successful applicants will collaborate with an ABC producer.
