VENUE: Brisbane Cricket Ground (the Gabba)
José Carreras to headline historic concert at the Gabba on his 80th birthday.
A Star-Studded Lineup
The concert will be headlined by legendary Spanish tenor José Carreras, celebrating his 80th birthday. He will be joined by an impressive roster of international and Australian artists, including Robbie Williams, The Corrs, Ronan Keating, Natalie Imbruglia, Darren Hayes, Sheppard, Ann Wilson, Katherine Jenkins, and Mark Vincent.
The performers will be accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and a choir, bringing the total number of musicians on stage to 90.
A Historic Venue
This event marks the first major concert at the Gabba since Taylor Swift's Reputation tour in 2018, which drew 44,000 attendees. The Gabba is scheduled for demolition after the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with a new 17,000-seat arena to be built adjacent to the Woolloongabba Cross River Rail station.
Inspired by a Legacy
The concert is inspired by the "Pavarotti and Friends" series held in Italy from 1992 to 2003. José Carreras expressed pride in being asked to perform, noting that his voice has changed with age but gained deeper interpretation.
Economic and Tourism Impact
Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said the event aligns with the state government's Destination 2045 tourism plan, aiming to attract visitors and showcase Queensland.
