Dentist & Reality TV Hopeful in Court Over Alleged Drink Spiking at Ski Resort

Amy Tossoun, 34, has appeared in Mansfield Magistrates' Court charged with possessing an amphetamine and introducing a drug of dependence into the body of another person after an alleged incident at the Mount Buller ski resort.

The charges stem from an evening out on July 26, 2025, which ended with the alleged victim being hospitalised after testing positive for MDMA.

Incident Details

According to prosecutor Sergeant Karen Knotley, Tossoun was staying at a Mount Buller chalet with her partner while friends were in nearby accommodation. On the evening of July 26, the group dined at the Black Cockatoo restaurant before moving to the Kooroora Hotel around 10:00 PM.

CCTV footage presented in court reveals a precise sequence of events:

  • At 10:37 PM, Tossoun approached the bar with the alleged victim and another friend, ordering three vodka sodas.
  • Tossoun had a small bag of MDMA in her snow jacket.
  • She separated one glass and was observed placing amphetamine into a drink and mixing it with a straw.
  • A friend collected the drinks and took them to the dance floor.
  • Tossoun then followed and swapped the drinks, giving the alleged victim the laced drink.

"She separated one glass and was observed placing amphetamine into a drink and mixing it with a straw."

The alleged victim reported the drink tasted astringent and went to the bar to add soda and lime. She left the venue shortly afterward and began feeling dizzy and unwell at approximately 10:55 PM. Medical staff were contacted, and paramedics transported her to Mansfield District Hospital. She later tested positive for MDMA.

In a police interview, Tossoun stated she had placed the MDMA in her own drink and suggested the incident was unintentional due to the number of drinks on the table.

Court Proceedings

Tossoun faces charges of:

  • Possessing an amphetamine
  • Introducing a drug of dependence into another person

Defense lawyer Michelle Button requested a diversion program for her client, citing Tossoun's lack of prior criminal history, her shame and embarrassment, and contributions to society through volunteering, church involvement, and charity work. Button argued the incident was a case of poor judgment between friends and noted that Tossoun texted the alleged victim during the night.

Magistrate Amina Bhai declined the diversion application, stating the offending was serious because it removed the alleged victim's right to consent to substance consumption.

"You took away the right of another person to say no to consuming a substance."
— Magistrate Amina Bhai

The matter will proceed as a three-day contested hearing later this year, with six witnesses expected to be called, including the alleged victim.

Background

Tossoun co-founded The Richmond Dentist with her ex-husband. She has been reported as a potential participant in the reboot of the reality television program Real Housewives of Melbourne and has attended high-profile events such as the Birdcage at Flemington and the Australian Grand Prix.

The alleged victim, Melissa Jreissati, is marketing director of Levantine Hill Estate winery.
