Maternal Instinct streams now on Netflix.
Netflix's documentary Maternal Instinct, directed by Jessica Dimmock and executive produced by Liz Garbus, examines the case of Taylor Parker.
The film follows a young woman from a wealthy family who becomes involved with an East Texas hog trapper, becomes pregnant, and is later discovered by a state trooper to have just given birth in her car.
The documentary gradually reveals the details of a crime described by Netflix as "relatively unknown" and by the director as having a "cruelty" that makes it one of the worst stories she has encountered.
“The cruelty of this story makes it one of the worst I have ever encountered,” said director Jessica Dimmock.
The film is noted for its pacing, withholding information to mirror the experience of the victim's family. Dimmock was unaware of the case before being approached by producer Samantha DeMaria, who brought the story to Story Syndicate.
The documentary is streaming on Netflix.
