Hamilton Looms Large as Wolff Eyes Title Challenge

Following a qualifying session where Mercedes driver George Russell secured pole position, team principal Toto Wolff acknowledged that the upcoming Grand Prix will be heavily contested by Lewis Hamilton—now driving for Ferrari.

Hamilton, who qualified in second place, will start alongside his Ferrari teammate, Kimi Antonelli, who took third on the grid.

Wolff noted that Hamilton's confidence and the car's suitability to his driving style make him a significant threat. "When he is confident and the car suits him, he is a formidable competitor," Wolff stated.

The Mercedes chief identified two critical factors that will likely decide the race outcome:

  • Tire degradation
  • The start of the race

With the top three positions occupied by Mercedes and Ferrari, the stage is set for a strategic battle between the two legendary teams.
