Move Well Brisbane: A $5.6 Million Investment in Community Health

The Brisbane City Council will invest $5.6 million in the 2026/2027 budget for a new health and wellness program called Move Well Brisbane.

The program represents the next stage of the council's Active and Healthy initiative, which already offers free and low-cost activities to residents.

Key Goals

  • Expand reach: Increase participating businesses to 400 over the next two years.
  • Double offerings: Boost the number of sessions to 20,000 in the same period.

What’s Included?

Activities will feature a wide range of options, including Pilates, yoga, and nutritional and cooking classes.

A Major Partnership

Nutrition Australia Queensland will partner with the council to provide nutrition and healthy cooking classes as part of the program.

The Mayor’s View

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner described it as "the biggest boost to active and healthy programs that the city has ever seen."

Budget Context

The 2026/2027 budget is said to focus on cost-of-living relief. Schrinner stated the council aims to keep rates the lowest in south-east Queensland.
