DYNAMITE DISCOVERED IN MELBOURNE'S INNER NORTH

Northcote, Melbourne – On Sunday afternoon, a stash of dynamite was discovered in a property near Merri Park in Melbourne's inner north. The discovery prompted police to clear the park of children and dog walkers.

The incident unfolded in the typically quiet neighborhood behind Northcote High School. Authorities responded swiftly, deploying a bomb response robot to handle the situation.

First Detonation

Just before 1pm, the explosives were detonated in a controlled operation near trees at Merri Park. The explosion sent hay and dirt flying across the area.

Earlier in the day, SES volunteers had been called in to provide sand bags as a precautionary measure.

Second Detonation

A second detonation occurred just before 3pm, though authorities have not yet confirmed the nature of the second operation.

No injuries have been reported, and police have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
