Apple Unveils Xcode 27 with Integrated AI Chat at WWDC

Apple announced Xcode 27 at its Worldwide Developers Conference, requiring macOS 27 "Golden Gate".

AI Integration Redefines Developer Workflow

Xcode 27 will allow direct chat with AI models from Anthropic (Claude), Google, and OpenAI (ChatGPT) within the system. This groundbreaking integration supports planning, answering questions, and showing code changes during conversations.

Agentic tools can validate their work and build for iPhone, iPad, Mac, watchOS, Apple TV, and Vision Pro, streamlining development across Apple's entire ecosystem.

Expanded Ecosystem Interfacing

Xcode 27 will interface with Figma, GitHub, and platforms supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP), creating a more connected development environment.

Hardware Requirements and Gaming Push

Apple Silicon (M1 or later) is required; Intel Macs are not supported for macOS 27. The minimum hardware requirements are:

  • M1 MacBook Air
  • M1 MacBook Pro
  • M1 Mac Mini

A new Game Porting Toolkit version 4 and Steam Asset Converter aim to bring more games to Mac, expanding the platform's gaming capabilities.

"Developers are at the heart of the Apple ecosystem, and our goal is to provide them with the best possible tools and technologies to build the future."
— Susan Prescott, Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations at Apple
