Al-Qaqa Ibn Antar, a 30-year-old climber known as "The Spider-Man of Yemen," died on Friday after falling into the Hardah Dam volcanic crater while climbing without safety equipment. The fall occurred in the southern province of Dhale.

Rescue

Rescue teams retrieved Antar's body from a lake 100 feet below the crater's surface. The operation, which involved divers and water specialists, lasted four hours and was described as complex due to difficult terrain.

Background

Antar had gained popularity on social media for posting videos of high-risk climbs on Yemen's rugged terrain. The Civil Defense Authority advised climbers to use appropriate protective gear and follow safety procedures.
