Sean Strickland Escorted from White House UFC Event
UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland entered the UFC Fan Fest at the White House without authorization, was removed by security, and may face a disorderly conduct charge.
Incident Details
According to multiple sources, on Sunday evening, Strickland attended the UFC Fan Fest event at the Ellipse near the White House. He entered a ring at the event, reportedly carrying what appeared to be a beer, and consumed it. He was then removed from the premises by security personnel, including Secret Service agents. Photographs show Strickland being escorted away barefoot while smiling.
Strickland was not arrested. In a social media post, he stated that he may have been charged with disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor in Washington D.C. punishable by up to 90 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $500. He also thanked fans for their support.
Statements on Attendance Status
UFC CEO Dana White stated that no one was banned from the event, but that Strickland was not on the guest list due to limited seating. White also made a separate comment that "Sean Strickland is banned from humanity."
Earlier in the week, Strickland had expressed reluctance to attend the event. He also made statements suggesting he was not invited due to his political views and made a separate comment regarding his stance on Israel.
