Two separate awards ceremonies recognized architectural and interior design projects across Australia in 2026.
Australian Interior Design Awards 2026
Several projects were recognized at the 2026 Australian Interior Design Awards. According to the organizers, 288 projects were shortlisted for consideration.
Hospitality Design Award
Studio Gram and J.AR Office shared the Hospitality Design award.
Studio Gram was recognized for Omada Bar & Grill in Adelaide, a Greek-inspired restaurant specializing in charcoaled meat, vegetables, seafood, and Greek wine and cocktails. J.AR Office was recognized for Marlowe bistrot in South Brisbane.
Premier Award for Australian Interior Design
Woods Bagot received the Premier Award for The Forest, Tasmania.
Category Awards
The following awards were presented:
- Residential Design Award: Genevieve Hromas with Tribe Studio Architects for Coogee House III, New South Wales.
- Residential Decoration Award: YSG Studio for The Gentleman, New South Wales.
- Retail Design Award: Pattern Studio for Deiji, New South Wales.
- Installation Design Award: Youssofzay Hart for Lynda Draper: Glimmer, and Museums Victoria for Our Wondrous Planet.
- Public Design Award: Hassell, Weston Williamson and Partners, and RSHP for Metro Tunnel Project – Town Hall Station; and Woods Bagot for The Forest.
- Workplace Design Award: Hassell in partnership with Arup for Arup Workplace Brisbane.
- Emerging Interior Design Practice Award: Occupy Studio, New South Wales.
- Sustainability Advancement Award: Hassell in partnership with Arup for Arup Workplace Brisbane.
Best of State (South Australia)
- Commercial – South Australia: JPE Design Studio with Warren and Mahoney and Karl Winda Telfer for Adelaide Aquatic Centre Development.
- Residential – South Australia: Simone Haag for Craigweil.
Victorian Architecture Awards 2026
The redeveloped St Kilda pier was awarded the Victorian Architecture Medal on Friday at the 2026 Australian Institute of Architects' Victorian awards.
St Kilda Pier Redevelopment
The project, valued at $53 million and undertaken by the Victorian government, was designed by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, Site Office Landscape Architecture, and AW Maritime.
In addition to the Victorian Architecture Medal, it received the Dimity Reed Melbourne Prize and the Joseph Reed Award for Urban Design.
In March, it was named a co-winner in the built outcomes category at the national Urban Design awards. The project was previously the subject of public discussion regarding a proposed fee-for-access model to the penguin colony.

- 65 Dover Street, Cremorne: Sir Osborn McCutcheon Award for Commercial Architecture.

- Palmerston Street house, Carlton: Heritage Award and John and Phyllis Murphy Award for Alterations and Additions.
- House in a Garden, Edition Offices: Harold Desbrowe Annear Award for New Residential Architecture.
