Former 49ers Star Aldon Smith Dies at 36
Former NFL defensive end Aldon Smith died on Saturday at age 36. The cause of death has not been officially released.

On the day of his death, Smith and his friend Amir Shirazi delivered 10 pizzas to CHAM Deliverance Ministry, a local charity serving homeless individuals in the Bay Area. Scott Wagers, co-founder of the ministry, confirmed that the two men arrived unexpectedly with the food.
After the delivery, Smith and Shirazi drove to Shirazi's home in Los Gatos, California. Shirazi entered his house briefly. Upon returning, he found Smith unresponsive in his truck.
CPR was performed by former San Francisco 49ers running back Anthony Dixon. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Amir Shirazi (friend): Stated he does not know the cause of death but believes it was from natural causes. He said Smith appeared in good spirits, joking and talking about life shortly before the delivery.
Scott Wagers (CHAM Deliverance Ministry co-founder): Described Smith as appearing "down to earth" and "humble" during the pizza delivery. Wagers stated Smith expressed a desire to involve his former teammates in charitable work.

Smith was selected seventh overall by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft. He recorded 44 sacks in 50 games over four seasons with the team, earning All-Pro recognition.
His NFL career was interrupted by multiple arrests and suspensions for off-field issues, including DUIs. The 49ers released him in 2015. He later played briefly for the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys.
In recent months, Smith visited the 49ers' facility to speak with rookies and was pursuing educational goals after retiring from professional football.
