Australian Crawl Reunites for Red Hot Summer Tour

The iconic Australian rock band Australian Crawl will reunite for a series of performances as part of the Red Hot Summer Tour, marking the first time the band has performed under its name since its dissolution in 1986.

Tour Lineup and Performers

The shows will feature original band members James Reyne (vocals), Simon Binks (guitar), and David Reyne (drums). They will be joined by former member John Watson and other musicians, including Brett Kingman, Josh Owen, Andrew McIvor, Sean Johnson, Melinda Jackson, and Nicole Kurta.

The Red Hot Summer Tour will also feature Men at Work (featuring Colin Hay), Boom Crash Opera, Birds of Tokyo, Vika & Linda, Eskimo Joe, and Ella Hooper.

Background

Australian Crawl formed in 1978 on the Mornington Peninsula. The band released several albums, including Sirocco and Sons of Beaches, and popularized hits such as "Reckless (Don't Be So)", "The Boys Light Up", "Errol", and "Things Don't Seem".

The reunion follows a Federal Court application by Binks and James Reyne against former drummer Bill McDonough concerning trademark rights to the band name.

Statements from Performers

Simon Binks stated he is looking forward to the celebration of the band and noted that three original members sharing the stage was unexpected. James Reyne expressed delight at performing with old friends.

Colin Hay commented on the success of Men at Work's first two records and said he learned not to compete with the past but to embrace it.
