Brisbane City Council Unveils $110 Million Road Resurfacing Blitz

Priority will be given to heavily used roads, according to Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner.

The Brisbane City Council has announced a major $110 million road resurfacing program dubbed 'Operation Smooth', covering nearly one million square metres of roads across the city.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner confirmed that the initiative will target the most heavily trafficked routes first.

Key Locations

Key areas earmarked for resurfacing include:

  • The southern approach to the Story Bridge
  • Roads in Albion, Eagle Farm, and Hamilton
  • Ipswich, Logan, Lutwyche, Moggill, and Toowong

Political Backlash

The announcement drew immediate criticism from Labor opposition leader Jared Cassidy, who stated that the LNP council has had over 20 years to fix roads and has failed.

The full budget for the next financial year is scheduled to be released on Wednesday.
