UFC Commentator Daniel Cormier Denies Alleged DM Exchange with Eric Trump

A tweet from Daniel Cormier's account appearing to show screenshots of a direct message exchange with Eric Trump discussing fixed fights has been dismissed as a hack by both parties.

"I have been trying to regain access to my account for two and a half days." – Daniel Cormier

The Incident

On Sunday, a tweet from UFC commentator Daniel Cormier's account seemingly displayed screenshots of a direct message exchange with Eric Trump. The messages alluded to fixed fights at a UFC White House event. The tweet was subsequently deleted.

The Denials

Both Cormier and Eric Trump have denied the authenticity of the exchange.

  • Cormier stated he first learned of the tweet from UFC social media staff at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, just before a broadcast event. He said he did not know how long the tweet had been up or that it had been taken down.
  • He claimed his account had been hacked and that he had been trying to regain access for two and a half days.
  • He argued it would be illogical for him to send such a tweet, given the timing and his professional responsibilities.
  • Cormier also noted that he and Eric Trump do not follow each other on social media, making a direct message exchange impossible.

Aftermath

Cormier reported that the incident has led to inquiries from sponsors and negative attention. He stated he has not had any issues with the UFC regarding the matter. Comments on his response video suggest some online users remain skeptical.
