Tickford Racing Unveils Indigenous-Themed Liveries for Darwin Triple Crown
For the second consecutive year, Tickford Racing will race with Indigenous-themed designs on its Ford Mustangs, created by Noongar Wardandi artist Joshua James.
The special liveries were unveiled ahead of the Darwin Triple Crown, marking a continued partnership between the team and the artist.
Two Distinct Designs, One Cultural Vision
- Cam Waters' car features a notably higher amount of green, incorporating the artist's distinctive earthy palette.
- Thomas Randle's car is built on a white base, accented with green and the classic red Castrol colours.
Team Commitment to Storytelling
Tickford Racing CEO Simon Brookhouse emphasized the significance of the Darwin round, stating the team is proud to collaborate with Joshua James and that the event provides a vital platform for connecting with artists and their storytelling.
"The Darwin round is important for connecting with artists and storytelling."
Artist's Perspective
Joshua James described the collaboration as powerful and meaningful, noting it is the second year his artwork has been featured on the two Ford Mustangs. James previously lived in Darwin and maintains a personal connection to Larrakia country.
Symbolism in the Artwork
The designs incorporate symbols specific to each driver:
- For Cam Waters: A Racehorse Goanna symbolising speed, and a campsite representing his family (himself, partner Brooke, and daughter Mila).
- For Thomas Randle: A Shield signifying strength, commitment, and determination, along with symbols of people representing his family and fans.
Both liveries feature message sticks, demonstrating the connection between driver and team.
On-Track Action
Practice for the Darwin Triple Crown begins at 10:35am AEST on Friday.
