Nintendo rolls out system software updates for both the Switch and Switch 2, bringing new features and refinements.
Nintendo has released system software update Version 22.5.0 for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The updates were released on June 15, 2026.
Switch 2 Update (Version 22.5.0)
The update for Nintendo's newest console focuses on accessibility and core system performance.
- New Text-to-Speech Languages: Dutch and Russian have been added to the Text to Speech languages in Accessibility settings.
- GameChat Speech Support: Dutch and Russian are also now available as languages for the "Change Speech ⇔ Text During GameChat" feature in Accessibility.
- Stability: The update includes general system stability improvements.
Switch Update (Version 22.5.0)
The original Nintendo Switch receives a more substantial feature update, primarily centered on the eShop and user convenience.
- Redesigned eShop: The Nintendo eShop layout has been redesigned for a fresher look.
- Theme Integration: The eShop's color now reflects the theme color when "Basic Dark" is selected in System Settings.
- Enhanced Security: A User-Verification PIN can now be used to confirm access to the Nintendo eShop and for using saved payment methods.
- Video Controls: Users now have the ability to rewind 10 seconds or advance 10 seconds using the ZL and ZR buttons when watching full-screen video in News or the Nintendo eShop.
- Stability: The update also includes general system stability improvements.
