Neon Giant Unveils 'No Law' at State of Unreal

The studio behind The Ascent returns with a dense, reactive cyberpunk world built in Unreal Engine 5.

During the State of Unreal event, Neon Giant revealed its upcoming first-person shooter, No Law. The studio is leveraging Unreal Engine 5 to create a dense, reactive cyberpunk city, deliberately avoiding heavy reliance on procedural generation.

"We didn't want the largest world, but the densest."

Creative Director and Co-Founder Tor Frick described No Law as a direct evolution of the team's work on The Ascent. The core focus, he explained, is on density and depth within a defined region—not map size.

Frick elaborated on the team's philosophy:

"A city that feels lived-in at every scale, where every corner carries history, and every surface tells a story."

This approach signals a deliberate shift away from sprawling, procedurally generated environments. Instead, Neon Giant aims to craft a meticulously hand-crafted urban space where every detail serves a narrative purpose.
