Plot Summary
The story is set in a penitentiary in Briggs, Maine. David Burroughs, portrayed by Sam Worthington, is serving a life sentence for the murder of his 3-year-old son. He has maintained his innocence despite DNA evidence and an eyewitness account linking him to the crime.
After five years of incarceration, David receives a visit from his former sister-in-law, Rachel Mills. She reports seeing a photograph on social media that appears to show a boy resembling David's son, who would now be older, distinguished by a specific birthmark.
Following a threat from a corrections officer, David escapes from prison.
