Market & Competitive Context

According to IDC, Motorola holds approximately 50% of the US foldable market and roughly 55% in Latin America. Counterpoint Research reports Motorola's North American foldables share rose to 44% in 2025, up from 30%. The company states that 25% of Razr clamshell buyers are former iPhone users.

Price increases across the lineup are attributed to rising global component costs, particularly for RAM and storage, driven by AI demand. A book-style foldable device from Apple, potentially named iPhone Fold, iPhone Ultra, or iPhone Flip, is rumored for a possible launch later in 2026.
