An incident at a dementia care facility in Sydney's south-west has resulted in one resident being charged with assault and another remaining in hospital with serious injuries.

- Geoffrey Innes, 69, a resident of the HammondCare facility in Hammondville, has been charged with domestic violence-related assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear at a bedside hearing at Liverpool Local Court on Friday.
- John Cain, 87, a fellow resident, is alleged to have been assaulted by Innes on Wednesday evening in a secure garden courtyard at the facility.
- Mr. Cain was found at approximately 9:00 p.m. on a verandah with serious head injuries. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Legal Proceedings
Innes was arrested on Thursday and taken to Liverpool Police Station. He was later taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard and has been refused bail.
