Grange Hill Farm Focuses on Purebred Highland Cattle Breeding

View source

David Roberts and his daughter Tameka are breeding purebred Highland cattle at Grange Hill Farm in Lower Barrington, Tasmania.

Highlands are known for docile temperament, maternal instincts, easy calving, and rich milk.

The farm initially crossbred Highlands with Murray Greys but returned to purebreds in recent years. Tameka leads genetic improvement efforts, using artificial insemination with imported bloodlines.

The herd won awards at Royal Hobart Show and Circular Head Show. Calves are being trained for halter.

The Roberts sell beef to a loyal customer base. Registered stock prices range from $10,000 to $20,000.
