Senators Trade Brady Tkachuk to Panthers
The Ottawa Senators have traded forward Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers. The transaction was announced on Sunday.
Trade Details
The Ottawa Senators received the following draft picks in exchange for Tkachuk:
- The No. 9 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft (Florida's 2026 first-round pick)
- The No. 25 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft (originally held by Tampa Bay, acquired by Florida from Seattle)
- A conditional first-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft (Florida's pick, top-10 protected)
- A second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft (Florida's pick)
Earlier on the day of the trade, the Florida Panthers acquired the No. 25 pick from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for forward Mackie Samoskevich.
Player Background
Brady Tkachuk, 26, recorded 59 points (22 goals, 37 assists) in 60 regular-season games with the Senators this season. He did not record a point in four Stanley Cup Playoff games, during which the Senators were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference First Round.
Tkachuk has two seasons remaining on a seven-year, $57.5 million contract (average annual value of $8.214 million), signed on October 14, 2021.
In 572 regular-season NHL games, he has amassed 463 points (213 goals, 250 assists). He has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 10 playoff games.
He was selected by the Senators with the No. 4 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft and served as Ottawa's captain for the past five seasons.

Panthers general manager Bill Zito provided a statement regarding the acquisition.
Senators general manager Steve Staios also issued a statement, saying:
"This was not a decision we took lightly, but ultimately we did what we felt was best for the long-term future of our hockey club. We now possess cap space and draft capital and will be actively working to improve our roster."
