BlackVue dashcam cloud feature broadcasts live feeds to public

"This is a significant privacy concern," said Nine tech expert Trevor Long, after a user discovered that the cloud connectivity feature of BlackVue dashcams broadcasts real-time video and audio feeds from other users.

The feature, intended to allow owners to monitor their vehicles, was found to be accessible to anyone through the app, revealing the locations and conversations of other users.

The cloud feature was previously opt-out and has recently changed to opt-in. Concerns exist that many users may not be aware of the public nature of the feed, especially those with 24-hour recording enabled.

BlackVue stated it operates in accordance with Australia's Cyber Security Act and called social media claims "sensationalist and inaccurate." However, Long has suggested government action is needed to ensure user awareness.
