SAFC Launches Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group

Six inaugural members will guide the South Australian Film Corporation in embedding diversity across all operations and funded projects.

The South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) has formally established a Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group, appointing six inaugural members to the panel. The new group will provide expert counsel to SAFC leadership on programs, governance, legal frameworks, and sector development.

The inaugural members are:

  • Yogi Devgan
  • Katrina Lucas
  • Kacy McDonald
  • Marcus McKenzie
  • Yasemin Sabuncu
  • Emma Waters

A Strategic Foundation

The launch of the advisory group is a key action under the SAFC's Strategic Plan 2025–2028, which names diversity and inclusion as a core value. The corporation is working toward specific targets outlined in its Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2022-2032, with a goal to meet them by June 2032.

Key Targets for SAFC-Funded Projects

For credited writers, directors, and producers:

  • 50% female
  • 25% Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD)
  • 10% deaf or disabled
  • 10% regional or remote
  • 8% LGBTQIA+
  • 5% First Nations

For South Australian crew on SAFC-funded productions:

  • 50% female
  • 15% Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD)
  • 14% LGBTQIA+
  • 10% regional or remote
  • 8% deaf or disabled
  • 5% First Nations
