Miss Kaninna Sells Out Dark Mofo Show in Under Two Hours

Miss Kaninna, rapper and songwriter from Tasmania, performed at Dark Mofo in Hobart. Her show sold out in just over an hour, the fastest of the festival's 2024 lineup.

Miss Kaninna premiered her first single "Blak Britney" at Dark Mofo in 2022. She was named 2023 triple j Unearthed Artist of the Year and nominated for an ARIA Award for debut single, the first Indigenous woman to achieve that.

At the festival, Miss Kaninna announced her debut mixtape "Blackprint", scheduled for August 2024. She described the album as a reclaiming of space and culture.

Her support act was Emi Doi, fronting the experimental J-pop project エミエミ (emi emi). Miss Kaninna said she wanted to back a female artist making cultural change.

Dark Mofo, running annually in winter since 2013, attracts over 50,000 interstate and overseas visitors.

Other headliners included Daveed Diggs, cast member of the original Broadway musical Hamilton, whose hip-hop group clipping. has been trying to perform at Dark Mofo since 2013.
