Australia Dominates Pakistan in Women's T20 World Cup
Australia secured a dominant 113-run victory over Pakistan in a Women's T20 World Cup group match at Headingley, setting a formidable target of 199 for 7 before bowling Pakistan out for 86.
Perry Leads with Bat and Ball
Ellyse Perry top-scored with 71 off 48 balls to anchor Australia's imposing total. Reflecting on her innings, Perry said:
"The powerplay is the best time to bat, I wanted to keep taking the game on."
Perry also contributed with the ball, taking 2-9, while captain Sophie Molineux (2-6) and Annabel Sutherland (2-12) led the bowling attack.
Gritty Performance from Mooney
Despite being dismissed for a duck on the first ball of Australia's innings, wicketkeeper Beth Mooney displayed remarkable resilience. She dislocated the middle finger of her right hand twice during Pakistan's innings but continued playing, taking two catches. Mooney had also been dealing with back stiffness in a previous match.
Pakistan's Response
For Pakistan, opener Muneeba Ali offered the only resistance, scoring 32 off 25 balls, as the rest of the batting lineup struggled against Australia's disciplined bowling.
