Blizzard Announces 'Season of Death Awakening' and Patch 3.1 for Diablo IV

View source

Season Start: June 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

A new chapter opens in Sanctuary following the 'Age of Hatred' season. Season 8: Pandemonium introduces rifts, a new enemy family, a complete overhaul of Mythic items, and the arrival of Solo Self Found leaderboards.

The Pandemonium Rupture

Rifts are tearing open the world, and they are most frequent in Helltide zones. Players must close these tears and defeat the guardians within to earn Glints of Hope and Pandemonium Fragments. A new enemy family, the Risen—consisting of Gravehounds and Exarchs—will stand in your way.

A new Seasonal Lair Boss, the Corrupted Reaper, awaits in Zarbinzet. Access to this encounter is unlocked after completing the seasonal questline.

Mythic Uniques 3.0: A New Power Ceiling

Any Unique item can now be upgraded to Mythic status. This is a fundamental shift in end-game gearing.

  • Upgrade Paths: You can use the Horadric Cube (requires 5 Pandemonium Fragments) or visit the Jeweler (requires 18 specific Runes and 3 Resplendent Sparks).
  • The Power: Mythic Uniques gain a +30% bonus to their unique power and automatically roll with maximum affixes.
  • A Key Restriction: You can only equip one crafted Mythic Unique at a time.

Post-PTR Adjustments: Based on player feedback, several key changes were made. The input item's slot now determines the output slot (e.g., using boots gives a random pair of Mythic boots). Additionally, Enchanting, Transfiguration, and Tempering affixes now roll at maximum values on Mythic Uniques.

Iconic Mythics (like the Harlequin Crest) are no longer craftable at the Jeweler. They remain craftable at the Blacksmith. As a final note, all Uniques now have two guaranteed affixes.

Tower & Leaderboards: The Solo Challenge Arrives

The new Solo Self Found (SSF) mode is a seasonal-only experience. You cannot party or trade, and you have a separate stash. This mode is permanent for the season, and your character reverts to the Eternal Realm at season's end.

SSF Leaderboards are live for both Normal and Hardcore. Compete for rewards including halo cosmetics, prestige titles, and emblems.

War Plans Party Sync has also been updated. Players in a party can now sync their War Plan boards for a cost of 2 Marks of El'Druin. XP scaling has been added to Torment VIII and higher.

Season Rewards & Progression

The season offers nine ranks with over 120 objectives. Complete them to earn:

  • Skill Points & Paragon Points
  • Resplendent Sparks
  • Mythic Unique Caches
  • A pet, mount trophy, titles, and materials

Season Blessings provide targeted bonuses: (Reputation from Urn of Death Awakening, Salvage from Urn of Reclamation, Obducite from Urn of Masterworking, Glyph upgrade from Urn of Glyphs, Ancestral Cache from Urn of Ancestral Whispers).

Free Trial & Collaboration

The Warlock class is free to play from June 30 to July 7, up to level 30.

A Diablo IV x Overwatch collaboration begins June 30. Players earn Eye of the Overwatch currency to unlock cosmetics in the Overwatch Reliquary, including a Fox Spirit companion.

Twitch Drops: Watch two hours of Diablo IV on Twitch between June 30 and July 14 to earn the Final Headache Two-Handed Mace cosmetic.

Battle Pass

The Battle Pass offers both free and premium tiers. The Deluxe Battle Pass includes the Winged Redeemer armor set, the Netherean pet, and the Wings of the Redeemer reactive wings.
