A seaplane made a hard landing in the East River between Brooklyn and Manhattan on Sunday afternoon, according to New York officials. Eight people were removed from the aircraft by New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responders. Two people sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention at the scene.
FDNY received a call at 12:01 p.m. about the incident north of the Williamsburg Bridge. The plane landed upright in the water and was later towed to dock.

According to flight records, the plane departed from Town of East Hampton Airport at 11:24 a.m. The aircraft is a Kodiak 100 seaplane built in the previous year. The owner is not publicly listed.
Investigation
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the hard landing caused a wing strut to snap. The FAA will investigate.
